Poetry and Literature Calendar A list of readings and workshops (April 24-April 30)

Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.: Empire State College/Erie Community College North Campus Open Reading, featuring Perry Nicholas, an English professor at Erie Community College North Campus. Additional reading slots available. Empire State College, Appletree Business Park, 2875 Union Road, Cheektowaga.

Wednesday, 7 p.m.: Reading and book signing by Clark Zlotchew, author of "Once Upon a Decade: Tales of the Fifties." Zlotchew has taught Spanish language and literature at Fredonia State College for the past 35 years. Talking Leaves Books, 3158 Main St.

Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.: Daemen College Readings at the RIC Series presents Mary Volmer and Howard Wolf. Volmer lives in the San Francisco Bay area, where she is a professor and the founding director of the St. Mary's College Honors Program, and the author of a debut novel "Crown of Dust" (Soho Press, 2010). Wolf, a longtime professor of English at the University at Buffalo, is the author of five books, including "Forgive the Father: A Memoir of Changing Generations" (1978) and "The Autobiographical Impulse: Essays on the Crisis of the Humanities in America" (1993). Thursday, 7 p.m.: Reading and book signing featuring Shawn Goodman and Alexi Zenter. Goodman, a Buffalo native, is the author of "Something Like Hope" (Delacort Press, 2009). Zenter, a native of Kitchener, Ont., is the author of the much-praised debut novel "Touch" (W.W. Norton). Both Goodman and Zenter currently live in the Ithaca area.
