MANTON - Lillian M. (Theiss)
Age 92, of North Tonawanda, April 23, 2011 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. She was born on April 7, 1919 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of Edward G. Theiss and Rose (Gibbs) Theiss. She attended schools in Niagara Falls, including Gaskill Junior High School and Trott Vocational High School. She was employed as a telephone operator by the New York Telephone Company and later by Niagara Permanent Savings and Loan Association as a teller. In 1947 she married Richard M. Manton in Niagara Falls where they resided until 1958 when they moved to North Tonawanda, NY. She was a former member of Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served as Financial Secretary for seven years. She also served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and was a Brownie leader at the former Pacific Avenue School. After moving to North Tonawanda, NY, she was employed as a note teller at Marine Midland Bank, Payne Avenue Office for ten years and took early retirement in 1973. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Tonawanda and was a member of the Women's Association Circle #2. She served on several committees and held office in the Christian Women's Fellowship and Church Women United of Tonawandas. She was a charter member and past president of the Villagers Mother's Club in Wurlitzer Park. She was also a life member of' the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the American Ex-Prisoners of War. She delighted in sewing and was an accomplished seamstress. Mrs. Manton is survived by a son Paul K. Manton (Sharon) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and a daughter, Karen L. Muldoon of Williamsville, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, David J. Muldoon (Karen) and Michelle R. Muldoon of North Tonawanda; Major Timothy P. B. Manton (Jennifer) of Hope Mills, NC; and Amy M. Johnson (Joseph) of Corfu, NY. In addition, she is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Riley, Braden, Clarissa, Kelsey, Maggie, Jacob, Brody and Kendall. No prior visitation. A service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 11 AM from First Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad St. in Tonawanda. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo.
