New Directions Youth and Family Services presents the second annual Wines of Distinction fundraiser, an evening of fine wines, acoustic melodies and gourmet hors d'oeuvres, from 7 to 10 p.m. next Friday in the Lockport Town and Country Club (717 East Ave., Lockport). All proceeds will be used to update the agency's recreational facilities and equipment and fund recreational activities at Wyndham Lawn Home for Children in Lockport and Randolph Children's Home in Randolph.
The event features wines from around the world, including three varieties from the area wineries of Arrowhead Spring Vineyards, Black Willow, Schulze Vineyards & Winery, Leonard Oakes Estate Winery and Chateau Niagara. There also will be performances by Randy Graham and his amplified acoustic guitar and Kevin Clark on piano.

*MusicalFare Theatre will hold auditions for the 2011-12 subscription season from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday in the theater at 4380 Main St., Amherst. Productions for the season include "Oliver!," "A Class Act," "Avenue Q" and "A Grand Night For Singing." Auditioners should bring sheet music for two songs. An accompanist will be provided.
