The 26th annual Friends of Niagara University Theatre Gala and Auction will take place April 30 in the university's Leary Theatre.
The event, which begins at 4 p.m., includes a performance of "The Pirates of Penzance" followed by a cocktail reception, dinner and silent and live auctions in the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston.
Among the items to be auctioned are gift certificates to area stores, restaurants and businesses, paintings, entertainment and sports-related memorabilia, and gift baskets. Proceeds benefit the theater program and its students. Auction committee chairwomen are Maria Arena, Pamela LeCuyer and Adair M. Saviola.

Clarence Women's Club will hold its 48th annual scholarship card and game night at 7 p.m. May 3 in Clarence Town Park Clubhouse, 10405 Main St. Adults are invited to bring their favorite board or card games. Tickets are $5 and include door prizes, strawberry shortcake and beverages. A silent auction also will be held. Proceeds will go toward scholarships to Clarence High School seniors. The 45th annual Canisius College Regents Scholarship Ball will be held May 7 in Hyatt Regency Buffalo. Cocktails at 6 p.m. will precede dinner, dancing to the sounds of Party of Nine and a series of raffles.
Vincent and Patricia Mancuso are chairpersons of the ball, at which the college's Board of Regents Distinguished Citizen Achievement Award will be presented to Angelo M. Fatta, president of ANSECO Group, a founding member of BuffLink Inc. and former chairman of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra's board of directors.
