Robert R. Pietrzak of Cheektowaga, a retired vice president at M&T Bank, died of congestive heart failure Saturday in Sisters Hospital, St. Joseph Campus, Cheektowaga. He was 74.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Pine Hill School. He earned a certificate from the New York State Bankers Association at West Point and from the University of Buffalo School of Management. He also took courses at the American Institute of Banking.
Mr. Pietrzak worked for M&T from 1954 until his retirement in 1999. He was a former branch manager and East Buffalo regional manager and served as vice president for the Business Banking Center.
He was a member of St. John Gualbert Catholic Church, where he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society and the parish and finance councils. He was a member of Father Justin Council 5670, Knights of Columbus, and St. Kolbe Assembly, Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Cheektowaga Economic Development Corp., where he was a past president and current executive board member. He was past president of the president's council at Villa Maria College and a member of the Cheektowaga Seniors Club and Thursday Couples Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Veronica Nawotka; two daughters, Debra Lerman and Susan Potocki; and a brother, Kenneth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today in St. John Gualbert Church, Gualbert Avenue and Doat Street, Cheektowaga.
