1. CLOSE SHAVE
Lakers' forward Matt Barnes (above) has gotten his traditional playoff haircut: a Mohawk. If the Lakers make an early postseason exit, he'll have something else to do -- Barnes would fit in nicely on the Bandits' playoff roster.
2. TURNING A NEW LEAF
Former Baltimore Ravens coach and current Fox TV analyst Brian Billick says NFL QB draft prospect Ryan Mallett has "got Ryan Leaf written all over him." Note to those who don't know that part of football history: This is not a compliment.

Auburn plans to put up statues of its Heisman winners -- Pat Sullivan, Bo Jackson and Cam Newton -- outside its football stadium. Newton's father already is pondering how much to charge the university for mineral rights to his son's likeness.
4. RING-ING ENDORSEMENT
A college teacher in Russia reportedly stabbed his friend to death over an argument about boxers Mike Tyson and the Klitschko brothers. The stabbing isn't the surprising part -- it's that two people actually care about the heavyweight division these days.
