Eugene C. "Buddy" Wahl, a retired Erie County Water Authority worker, died Thursday in his Lackawanna home. He was 61.
Born in Lackawanna, he was a graduate of Lackawanna High School. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Wahl had a 30-year career at the Erie County Water Authority in the line maintenance department, where he started as a laborer and retired as crew chief in 2007. After only three years on the job, he was elected president of Local 930, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, a post he held for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Marietta Vaticano; two sons, Brian and Eugene "Geno"; and four sisters, Carol McIntyre, Elaine Holy, Barbara and Susan.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday.
