BATTISTONI, Guerino "Jerry"

BATTISTONI - Guerino "Jerry"
Passed away peacefully at age 96 on March 15, 2011, beloved husband of the late Maree; devoted father of Judith Torrico; cherished grandfather of Rudolph and Eamonn Torrico; great-grandfather of Kenneth and Jacob Torrico; brother of James (late Ines), late David (Connie), late Rose (late Michael) Calandra; many nieces and nephews. As a young boy, he contracted polio, which seriously limited the use of his right arm and leg. In spite of his disability, he studied violin and classic piano. With persistence and dedication, he overcame his disability and became an accomplished musician. An honor student in high school, he entered and won first place in numerous music competitions playing classic piano compositions. His career included providing piano instruction to area residents and playing professionally at supper clubs, including the Kenwood and the Little White House. He retired from professional playing at age 88, but continued to teach piano until the age of 95. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday from 6-7 PM for a memorial gathering at the CASTIGLIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 873 Abbott Rd., Buffalo, where memorial services will immediately follow at 7 PM. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial tributes may be made to Buffalo Community Music School.
