Arline Muhr, a World War II veteran, died Thursday at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing Home, Lockport. She was 91.
Born Arline Peterson in Williamsville, she served with the Navy during World War II as a pharmacist's mate, third class. Stationed stateside, she was discharged in 1946.
After her military service, Mrs. Muhr became employed in 1953 as a secretary for Commercial Chemical Corp., retiring after about 25 years.
An active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsville, Mrs. Muhr was a Sunday School teacher who oversaw the Christian education of nursery school-aged children for more than 50 years.
She also served as president of the Rebekah Assembly of New York, I.O.O.F., from 1987 to 1988. She was a longtime member at the Williamsville Rebekah Lodge, and was a past Noble Grand (presiding officer) and a longtime secretary.
In addition, she was a past matron and secretary for many years of New Horizons Chapter No. 879, formerly Amherst Chapter No. 555, of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Samuel, her husband of 46 years, died in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Eagle Street, Williamsville.
