POEMS

Hold

by Fred Whitehead

I will hold

the image of

choke cherry

blossoms

as I will

the quick light of

my grandchild's eyes

all here ...

springtime gathering

in grass "round

the tree,

with a branch sword

he fights his

dragons,

his... he still

has them ...

ah, but me...

mine are gone

they may have

grown tired,

or have

moved on...

maybe though, they've

just been waiting

since I gave up

on them, waiting

for him to arrive
