Katherine Aiken is the newly elected president of the Women's Organization of Transit Valley Country Club. Chosen to serve with her on the board are: vice president, Janet Heckman; secretary, Tina Burker; membership, Catherine Sinha; entertainment, Kim Rosen; house and tennis, Teri Cardon; pool and bowling, Julie Bradley; and golf, Lynn Fish and Rosemary Klein.


Greater Buffalo Alumnae Panhellenic will meet at noon Wednesday in Family Tree Restaurant, 4346 Bailey Ave., Amherst. Katie Keefe of Alpha Pi will present plans for the April 29 fundraiser.

The group offers annual scholarships to high school and undergraduate female residents of Western New York through the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. The winner for 2010 is Darian Harvin of Alpha Epsilon Phi, who attends Emerson College.

The deadline for this year's application submission is March 1. For information, call 852-2857.


The University at Buffalo Women's Club will hold its annual wine tasting party at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Buffalo Launch Club, 503 East River Road, Grand Island. Rose Mary Madejski and Alice Russ are co-chairwomen for the event, which will feature food and wines of Italy and prize drawings. The cost is $65. For reservations, call Joan at 626-9332 by today. Guests must be 21 years or older.


Women's Club of Orchard Park is accepting applications for its 2011 scholarship program. Female undergraduate students over age 25 who are enrolled in an accredited college, university or vocational training and are residents of the Southtowns may apply. To request an application, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Scholarship Committee, Women's Club of Orchard Park, 70 Carriage Drive, No. 5, Orchard Park, NY 14127, Attention: Judy Horan. The filing deadline is April 15.


Beechwood Service Guild will have its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the residence, 2235 Millersport Highway, Getzville. The Root Five Quartet will perform. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.


Women's Club of Orchard Park will hold a luncheon meeting at noon Feb. 9 in Danny's South restaurant, 4300 Abbott Road, Orchard Park. Members are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item that will be donated to a food bank.
