Upstate Shredding -- Ben Weitsman & Son, a scrap metal processor and recycling operation, appointed Scott J. Collins general manager. Most recently vice president of sales and marketing with Tracey Road Equipment, Collins holds a bachelor's degree from Clarkson University. The company has facilities in Owego, Binghamton, Ithaca, Jamestown, Liberty, Syracuse, and Towanda, Pa.

Dresser-Rand Co., Painted Post, was awarded a $50,000 federal contract for the modification of master send controls from the U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Aveteran Corp., Buffalo, was awarded a $12,080 federal contract for the preventive maintenance and annual inspections of emergency generators from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Western New York Health Care System, Buffalo.



First Niagara awarded a total of $150,000 in grants to 11 Western New York area organizations through its fourth annual Mentoring Matters Program. The 2010 Mentoring Matters not-for-profit grant winners include: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Niagara County, Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns, Buffalo Prep, Compeer of Greater Buffalo, Health Association of Niagara County, Junior Achievement, Seneca Street Youth Mentoring, Buffalo Urban League and Burchfield Penney Art Center.
