NHL Report / Scores and fast facts

>Monday's games

Carolina 6, Toronto 4: Brandon Sutter had two third-period goals and rookie Jeff Skinner scored his 18th of the season to lead the Hurricanes. After going 16 games without a goal, Sutter has now scored three in his last three games.

N.Y. Rangers 2, Washington 1 (SO): Artem Anisimov scored the decisive goal in a shootout, while backup goaltender and ex-Sabre Martin Biron had 22 saves for the Rangers.

Calgary 3, Nashville 1: The Predators had been the hottest team in the league, winning 11 of 13. But Jarome Iginla's 21st goal helped the Flames win at home.

Colorado 4, St. Louis 3: Peter Forsberg may be almost ready to rejoin his old teammates. Forsberg, who hasn't played since the 2007-08 season, has been working out in Denver lately and reportedly is healthy. Brandon Yip had two goals for the Avalanche Monday.

Dallas at Vancouver: The Canucks are in the midst of an odd four-game losing streak. They have earned points in three of the losses, so this stretch hasn't been completely unproductive.

Boston at Los Angeles: The Bruins don't mind being away from home. They had earned at least a point in nine straight road games going into Monday night's test in Los Angeles.

Around the rinks

Pittsburgh Penguins: Sidney Crosby won't even attend the NHL All-Star game this weekend because he's still recovering from a concussion. The Pittsburgh Penguins made the announcement Monday in a statement on the team's website. Crosby, the top vote-getter for Sunday's All-Star game in Raleigh, N.C., was injured after absorbing hits to the head in successive games from the Capitals' David Steckel on Jan. 1 against Washington in the Winter Classic and the Lightning's Victor Hedman on Jan. 5.
