KENT-KOHLER - Dorismae Dorismae (Kohler) Kent, a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst and the Western New York Chapter of NOW, died on December 6, 2010 at the Canterbury Woods skilled nursing facility. Born in Buffalo, Mrs. Kent was a graduate of Fosdick-Masten High School and Geneseo State College. She was the first member of her family to graduate from college and later completed her Masters in Library Science at Buffalo State Teachers College. During her thirty-seven year career as a librarian she served at Williamsville High School, Buffalo State Teachers College, the Amherst Public Library, North Forest Elementary, and Williamsville South High School. She remained an active member of the UUCA serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees, Chair of the Endowment Fund, Chair of the Nominating Committee, Coordinator of the Jumble Sale, engaged in various fundraising activities, and was the stalwart of the welcoming committee. The NOW National convention was brought to Buffalo under her leadership. A staunch supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), she traveled to Washington to march at the capital for equal rights. She was married to her husband Jerol E. Kent for 57 years until his death in 1999; she is survived by her five children; Jerol Jr., Linda, Randy, Barry, and Holly, and her sister Muriel "Misty" Caccamise. Family and friends are invited to attend Dorismae's Memorial Service on Saturday February 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst, 6320 Main Street.
