Sister Mary Severine Dolanski died Saturday in Colette Hilbert Care Community. She was 89.
Virginia Dolanski was born in Niagara Falls and entered the aspirancy of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph in 1934. On July 23, 1942, Sister Severine professed her final vows.
Sister Severine earned a bachelor's degree in education from Nazareth College in Rochester.
For 63 years, Sister Severine ministered in the field of education at St. Theresa, Rochester; St. Vincent de Paul, North Evans; and Most Precious Blood, Angola. Sister Severine also served as assistant principal at Most Precious Blood and then assumed duties of office assistant and attendance secretary until 2007. In June 2008, Sister Severine joined the Sisters in the Colette Hilbert Care Community.
Her former students continue to remember their teacher as both caring and a friend.
Sister Severine is survived by two brothers, Arthur and Edwin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Convent Chapel, 4286 South Park Ave., Town of Hamburg.
