Word nerds will love the game Bananagrams (, $13.95). It is a fun game that is easy for everyone ages 7 and up. Players take letters and attempt to be the first to use all their letters to create intersecting words.

Perfect for family gatherings, you can throw it in a bag for any a trip -- or even when you know you will have to wait somewhere, such as the doctor's office -- because the letter tiles come in a small banana-shaped pouch. It, of course, has also expanded from the traditional mode onto Facebook, and iPhone or iPad.

There's also a couple of variations: Appletters is a domino-like game where players connect words together instead of dots; and Pairs in Pears is a good game for younger players learning vowels and consonants and word construction.

Bella Bamba is the new face powder from Benefit. They call it the "3D Brightening Pink Face Powder."

Benefit always has nice products in general and face powder in particular. This one is a lovely watermelon color with a pretty gold shimmer. It comes in a box with a built-in mirror. You can use it just on your cheeks as blush, or dust it all over to perk up your sallow skin tone in the sunless winter months. I know that sounds like you'll look like you are all blustery and angry, but it really doesn't turn you red-faced.

But how does it create a 3-D effect, exactly? The company says it's all in the technique: "Sweep blush on cheeks in circular strokes, moving from the apples toward the hairline. The shimmering gold undertones give the illusion of beautifully sculpted features and make your complexion pop!"

Bella Bamba is $28 at

"[My guilty pleasure is] a giant bucket of popcorn and butter and Twizzlers at the movies. It's like having a month-and-a-half's worth of calories."
