Buffalo Bills fans may grow weary of their team's performance on the field, but don't let anyone say they're going to let their team look bad in finance.
Earlier this month, Visa Inc. released an unusual ranking showing Bills fans near the bottom of all 32 NFL teams in financial literacy skills, based on their performance in a free, online personal finance video game called Financial Football. The Bills came in 27th.
In response, over 10 days, those fans stepped up to the line of scrimmage, and apparently played their hearts out.
As of Wednesday, the Bills had shot up to third place, with 573 wins, 13 losses and 11,817 points. That was up from just 54 wins, 12 losses and 997 points. They now have far more points than any other team, and among the fewest losses. And only the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans have more wins, with 640 and 601, respectively.
In Financial Football, which is part of Visa's Practical Money Skills for Life financial education program, players move down the field and score by correctly answering personal finance questions. The game is available in English or Spanish, and can be played online or ordered for free.
The game lasts until the NFL season ends Feb. 6. To see the current ranking, go to www.practicalmoneyskills.com/leaderboard. To play, go to www.practicalmoneyskills.com/football.
