The extra work is starting to become routine for the Canisius hockey team.
For the 10th time this season the Golden Griffins went to overtime, this time earning a 2-2 tie against Quinnipiac in a non-conference game at Buffalo State Ice Arena on Monday.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead early in the second period but Scott Moser (Kenmore West) evened the game 1:52 later.
The Griffs then went up, 2-1, 5:12 into the third on a goal by Preston Shupe. The Bobcats tied the game with 3:54 left in regulation on a blue-line rocket from Zach Currie.
Canisius had a power play in overtime, but failed to generate any solid scoring chances. The Griffs' penalty kill was key, however, as Quinnipiac went 0 for 9 on the power play with Griffs' goalie Tony Capobianco recording 42 saves.
Canisius is now 2-3-5 in overtime games this season, moving to 6-11-5 overall.
