Rhetter L. Hall of Buffalo died in Hawthorne Health Multicare Center, 1175 Delaware Ave. She was 80.
The former Rhetter Woods was born in Chester, S.C. In 1952, she moved to Buffalo, where she went to work as a receiving clerk for the former Miller Drugs Warehouse in Buffalo until 1965.
Mrs. Hall was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lackawanna, where she served as the choir director and soloist. She also served as a deaconess at the church and as a member of its missionary board. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Church Ushers Association of Buffalo & Vicinity, as well as the Eastern Region, New York State and national chapters of the organization.
Mrs. Hall also performed locally with gospel music greats such as the Rev. James Cleveland and Mahalia Jackson in the 1960s and 1970s.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Charlie; a son, David L. Woods Sr.; and a stepdaughter, Carmelita Cawthon.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 18 Church St., Lackawanna.
