BELL, Thomas L.

BELL - Thomas L. Of Bradenton, FL (formerly of Amherst, NY) died peacefully on January 2, 2011. He was 92 years old. Mr. Bell is survived by son Thomas J. Bell of Amherst, NY and son Craig D. Bell and his wife Karen of Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Margaret C. Bell, who died in 1987, and his second wife of 18 years, Marion H. Bell, who died in 2008. Mr. Bell retired after 43 years of service at Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he worked in the manufacture of large industrial motors. He served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman during World War II serving principally in the European Theater as a member of the 302nd Regiment, 94th Infantry Division. Mr. Bell was decorated with a Silver Star, the country's third highest military award for valor and heroism, for his combat actions in Germany. His military awards also include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and a number of additional military decorations. Mr. Bell was a Past Master of Mystic Art Lodge #899 in Amherst, NY and continued his lifelong Masonic service until the time of his death.
A memorial service will be held at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 2368 Eggert Rd., Tonawanda, NY 14150 at 10:30 AM on January 22, 2011. Mr. Bell will be interred at the Williamsville Cemetery in the Village of Williamsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Families of the Wounded Fund where 100 percent of funds collected are distributed to the families and caregivers of military service men and women who are receiving prescribed medial treatment as a result of being wounded in combat operations.
