Let's celebrate winter!

Softball, swimming and a bonfire aren't usually associated with winter in Buffalo, but they're all part of the "Winterfest Weekend" presented by the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, "Winterfest" activities are focused in and around Lincoln Arena, Decauter Road at Parker Boulevard.

On Saturday, there's a softball tournament (10 a.m.), hockey games (10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.), figure skating show (3 p.m.); plus a baked goods sale, family bingo, a concert, fireworks and a free skate from 7 to 10 p.m. Then on Sunday, things move outdoors with a hayride (1 to 4:45 p.m.), snowmobile rides, a family skate and carnival (1 to 3:30 p.m.) and a magic show (2 p.m.). A free recreational swim with a DJ is 4:30 to 6 p.m. And there's more, too! For info, call 831-1011 or visit
