Anne M. Moore of West Seneca, a retired supervisor with the Erie County Social Services Department, died Saturday in Mercy Skilled Nursing at Our Lady of Victory. She was 94.
Born in Buffalo, Mrs. Moore was a 1934 graduate of Mount Mercy Academy. She was an accomplished writer and artist, and also loved music and theater.
Prior to her career in social services, she taught at Holy Family and at Our Lady of Perpetual Help elementary schools.
Mrs. Moore was active in many Catholic organizations, teaching religious education at Queen of Heaven Parish and serving on the parish council. She also gave talks on alcohol abuse at local high schools, worked as a volunteer counselor in an early pregnancy center downtown and for many years judged debates and one-act plays for the Catholic Youth Organization.
In her later years, she sang with the choir at the Latin Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church and gave tours at Our Lady of Victory Basilica.
She and her late husband, William Paul, enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday in Queen of Heaven Church, West Seneca.
