FRANGER - Paul K. Died peacefully December 23, 2010 at Providence Alaska Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Paul was born May 14, 1952 in Buffalo, NY to Karl and Elsa Franger, the only son of five children. Immediately after graduation, he joined the Navy. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Adak. It was during this time that he developed a passion for travel and seeing the world. Upon leaving the Navy, Paul spent a year in New York before returning to Alaska to do reclamation work along the Alaska pipeline. After that position was completed, he started his career with Explosives Limited, which lasted 31 years. His job included extensive travel usually to harsh climates. Paul did his best to make up for that by spending his down time diving and sailing to exotic locales around the globe. He was never without at least three cameras. After spending 21 years in Alaska, Paul and his wife, Donna, were transferred to the home office in Calgary, Alberta. They spent 10 enjoyable years there until Paul retired in 2007. Paul was stricken with cancer within months after returning to Alaska. He valiantly fought the disease up to the end. Paul is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Bailey; sisters, Sharon (Bob) Muhi, Susan Franger and Shirley (Brad Hamilton); his parents-in-law, Ben and Eleanor Parrish; numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends around the world; and his faithful canines, Rockford and Zsa-Zsa. Paul was preceded in death by his daughter, Carly; sister, Sandra Lippes; and his parents. A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date.
