FISK, Jeanne B.

FISK - Jeanne B. Recently of Lincoln, Nebraska, died November 24, 2010, at age 97. Born in Elkader, IA to Max and Bessie Bishop, Jeanne graduated Rockford College in Illinois and earned a Masters degree in Speech Pathology from Columbia University. She worked at Children's Hospital in Buffalo and later taught English at Erie Community College. Jeanne was active in women's organizations at UB and the Amherst Unitarian-Universalist Church, friend and hostess to many foreign students and faculty at UB, and hosted American Field Service exchange students from Sweden and Italy. Jeanne and her late husband Dr. Robert Fisk, former Dean of the School of Education at SUNY Buffalo, traveled extensively, living and working on various educational assignments in Pakistan, England, Nigeria, Australia, Israel and Paraguay. Jeanne and Bob enjoyed the Buffalo area and their summer camp in Ontario for over 40 of their 68 years of marriage. Survivors include her daughter BJ Wheeler of Lincoln, NE and sons John Fisk of St. Helena Island, SC, Paul Fisk of Latham, NY and Etim Fisk of Springfield, IL, 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held January 8 at the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, NE
