Elderly Salamanca man charged with DWI in crash

SALAMANCA -- An Eagle Street man was arrested Wednesday evening for driving while intoxicated after city police said he struck an unoccupied parked car on Front Avenue.

Edward W. Fluent, 83, was charged with DWI and failure to keep right. Both vehicles had to be towed. Fluent is to answer to the charges today in City Court.

Undercover probe lands Albion man in hot water

ALBION -- An Albion man faces 14 criminal charges in connection with a three-month-long undercover investigation into the sale and distribution of crack cocaine in Albion and Medina, Orleans County officials reported Thursday.

Keith George, 22, of Hamilton Street, fled his apartment on foot but was apprehended a short time later after police converged on his address and seized a quantity of packaged crack cocaine, marijuana, cash, packaging and other drug paraphernalia.

George was charged with four counts of felony criminal sale of a controlled substance, five felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance as well as one count each of tampering with physical evidence, criminal nuisance, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and criminal mischief.

Man faces charges in choking of dog

A Buffalo man choked a dog while demanding that he be paid $20 in a labor dispute, police said.

Johnnie Williams, 51, began choking Kellie P. Bolden's pet and threatened to kill the dog unless she paid him $20 after he had broken into her home in the 100 block of Kensington Avenue at about 9 p.m. Monday, Northeast District Officers James Scherer and Jason Mayhook said.

Bolden gave Williams the money, and he threw the dog down and fled, police said. He was later caught in the 1900 block of Hertel Avenue, police added.

Williams, also of Kensington Avenue, was charged with harassment, burglary, criminal mischief and criminal contempt for failure to obey a court order of protection barring him from having contact with Bolden. Details of the labor dispute were not available.

Deputies say woman disrupted domestic probe

ALLEGANY -- A McClure Hollow Road woman was taken to jail after police said she disrupted their investigation of a domestic situation at her home Tuesday evening.

Diane L. Marcellin, 40, was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies.

Following arraignment in Allegany Town Court, she was taken to the county jail in lieu of $500 bail.

Two illegal immigrants arrested in I-86 stop

NORTH HARMONY -- State police arrested two illegal immigrants Monday on Interstate 86 in Chautauqua County, according to State Police reports.

State troopers stopped a vehicle for speeding in the Town of North Harmony. An investigation revealed that the driver, Ricardo Victoria-Escorza, and passenger, Eusebio Trejo-Garcia, were in the United States illegally, police said.

The two men were taken to State Police barracks in Jamestown, where the were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol, police said.

Stolen vehicles found on Tuscarora Reservation

TUSCARORA RESERVATION -- Two stolen vehicles were found Wednesday on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation, according to Niagara County sheriff's deputies.

A 2004 Chevy pickup, valued at $10,000, that had been reported stolen in the 5800 block of Walmore Road in Sanborn was found on Walmore Road just after 9 a.m., minus a plow.

Deputies said the vehicle was found in a wooded area where other stolen vehicles have been recovered.

A $16,000 sport utility, which was stolen from Niagara Falls, had previously been reported as found in a wooded area on Walmore Road on Wednesday and was found stripped of tires and catalytic convertor and heavily damaged.

Traffic stop yields drug, alcohol arrest

FALCONER -- A traffic stop Tuesday in Falconer led to drug and alcohol charges for a Southern Tier man, according to state police.

Scott Bellardo, 20, of Conewango, was stopped for a traffic violation. While exiting his vehicle, marijuana fell from Bellardo's pocket, police said.

Bellardo failed field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent, police said. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession.

Man accused of bringing drugs into his jail cell

LOCKPORT -- A Walmore Road man was charged Wednesday with bringing contraband into prison by Niagara County sheriff's deputies.

Officers said they found Patrick J. Dugan, 27, in his cell with a prescription bottle containing narcotics that he had been able to smuggle into the jail before he was booked.
