COMING UP

OPEN HOUSE: The public is invited to visit Elmwood Village Charter School at 9 a.m. today as part of Charter First Fridays, which showcases a different charter school each month. John Sheffield, head of school, will lead a school tour and a presentation. The school at 124 Elmwood Ave., which serves about 200 students in kindergarten through sixth grade, has received state approval to add a seventh and eighth grade in the next two years.

The school emphasizes social responsibility, arts integration, multiculturalism and community alliances.

NATIONAL POLKA MONTH: The Broadway Market will celebrate National Polk Month with live music from the New Direction Band from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
