BASKETBALL: St. Mary's School for the Deaf is hosting a tournament on Jan. 22 at the school, 2253 Main St. There will be eight teams from places such as Rochester, New York City, Vermont, and New Jersey. Games begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Admission is $10 for an all-day pass and children under 12 are free. Concession stands will be open to the public and players. The Gloria Parks Men's League winter sessions will begin the week of Jan. 17. Three leagues are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. HOCKEY: The Western Region Women's hockey team will be holding a tryout for the Lake Placid Empire State Games. A local tryout will be held Saturday from 9-10 p.m. at the Northtown Center in Amherst. Players must be 18 by Nov. 1, 2010 and register online prior to the tryout. Fee is $25 which includes registration for the Games, should you be selected for the team.
