Wednesday's games

N.Y. Rangers 2, Carolina 1 (OT): Mats Zuccarello scored his first NHL goal 3:09 into overtime for the Rangers. Carolina had its three-game winning streak against the Rangers broken.

Pittsburgh 8, Tampa Bay 1: Chris Kunitz scored three goals, Evgeni Malkin got Pittsburgh going with a goal 7 seconds into the game and the Penguins, playing for the first time since the Winter Classic, crushed the Lightning. The Penguins scored four times on their first eight shots.

Atlanta 3, Florida 2: Rich Peverley scored twice and Ondrej Pavelec made 33 saves as the Thrashers won for just the third time in the last eight games.

Dallas 4, Chicago 2: Mike Ribeiro broke a tie midway through the second period with his second power-play goal of the game as the Stars won their sixth straight on the road.

Calgary at Vancouver: The Canucks have gone 11-0-2 since their last regulation loss, 3-2 to St. Louis on Dec. 5. They last won seven straight last Jan. 16-30.

Nashville at Anaheim: Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller is 2-1-0 with a 1.67 GAA in three career starts at home against Nashville and sport an 18-2-3 lead in the all-time series against the Predators.


Late Tuesday

Detroit 5, Edmonton 3: Todd Bertuzzi scored twice, including the game winner, and the Red Wings handed the Oilers their seventh straight loss.

AHL: Portland 5, Bridgeport 3: Justin Bowers and Mark Mancari each scored a goal and an assist and Marc-Andre Gragnani had three assists for the Pirates.
