Gloria M. Larson, retired teacher, WWII veteran ; July 29, 1924 -- Jan. 3, 2011

Gloria M. Larson, of Williamsville, a retired elementary school teacher, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness. She was 86.

Born Gloria Marong in Buffalo, she was a 1943 graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School, earned a bachelor's degree in education from Fredonia State Teachers College and served in the Army during World War II.

Mrs. Larson had a 40-year classroom career in the Buffalo area, teaching elementary students in the Amherst and Sweet Home schools.

She was a member of the Willow Ridge Garden Club and the Women's Veterans Association.

Her husband, Victor C., died in 1991.

She is survived two sons, Michael P. and Robert J.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. today in St. Christopher Catholic Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda.
