Producers Guild reveals film, TV nods

The Producers Guild of America announced its nominations for best movies of the year Tuesday with its list of contenders for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

In addition to the likely suspects -- "The Social Network," "The King's Speech," "Black Swan," "127 Hours" and "The Fighter" -- the producers put "The Town" and "Toy Story 3" in the Top 10. The rest of the list filled out with likely Oscar best picture contenders "Inception," "The Kids Are All Right" and "True Grit."

In the animation category, the producers nominated "Toy Story 3," "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Despicable Me." Their previously announced documentary list includes "Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer," "Earth Made of Glass," "Inside Job," "Smash His Camera," "The Tillman Story" and "Waiting for 'Superman.' "

Of all the nominations chosen in the three film categories, only "Client 9" was awaiting producer credit confirmation.

For episodic television, comedy, the producers nominated "30 Rock," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Glee," "Modern Family" and "The Office." In the dramatic category, "Breaking Bad" was recognized, as were "Dexter," "Lost," "Mad Men" and "True Blood."

For long-form television, PBS' "Murder on the Orient Express" was recognized, as were "Pillars of the Earth," "Temple Grandin," "The Pacific" and "You Don't Know Jack." In the nonfiction television category, the producers chose "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations," "Deadliest Catch," "Intervention," "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" and "Undercover Boss."

For best production on live entertainment and competition television, the nominees are "The Amazing Race," "The Colbert Report," "Project Runway," "Real Time With Bill Maher" and "Top Chef," which is still awaiting credit confirmation.

Special recognition this year will be given to James Cameron, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, Scott Rudin, Laura Ziskin and 3-D technology company RealD.

Judd Apatow will host the award event, to be held Jan. 22 in the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
