1. MISSED OPPORTUNITIES
Fred Jackson (above) came up short in his effort to reach 1,000 yards rushing for the second straight season. It was very classy of him not to point out that he might have made it had he faced the Bills' defense once or twice.
Browns President Mike Holmgren has started looking for a new coach of his team. This could be like when Dick Cheney ran George Bush's search for a vice presidential candidate, only to find that the best candidate was Cheney.
3. WRONG DIRECTION
Charlie Weis has gone from Notre Dame head coach to Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator to Florida offensive coordinator. At this rate he'll be a special-teams coach in the Patriot League within five years.
4. FROM THE SPAM BASKET
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent out an e-mail to 5 million fans Monday, presenting an update on the labor talks. Let's hope he didn't buy the mailing list from the guy who keeps sending out those Viagra offers.
5. ALTERNATIVE HISTORY
Downtown Buffalo was a sea of red on Monday, filled with Canadians getting ready for the U.S.-Canada junior hockey game. Now we know what Western New York would have looked like had the War of 1812 gone a slightly different way.
