Norbert Joseph Jagodzinski of Lancaster, a former Erie County sheriff's deputy who went on to oversee police service at Geneseo State College, died Monday in Fiddlers Green Manor Nursing Home in Springville. He was 70.
A graduate of Kensington High School and Buffalo State College, Mr. Jagodzinski served two years in the Army as a military policeman in France, until he was honorably discharged in 1965.
After serving in the Sheriff's Office for five years, Mr. Jagodzinski went to work at Buffalo State, where he was administrative supervisor of campus police. After seven years, he went to Geneseo, where he was director of University Police from 1978 to 1995.
He was a member of the International Police Association, Judges and Police Executives Conference of Erie County, the National Sheriff's Association and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Patricia Pelczynski; a daughter, Kimberly; a sister, Marcella Kaczmarek; and a brother, Walter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John Gualbert Catholic Church, Gualbert Avenue and Doat Street, Cheektowaga.
