Columbus 3, Toronto 2: Kristian Huselius scored twice and R.J. Umberger added the winner on a third-period power play. Nikolai Kulemin and Tyler Bozak scored for the Maple Leafs.

Atlanta 3, Boston 2 (SO): Tim Stapleton and Bryan Little scored in the first two rounds of a shootout and Toby Enstrom had two power-play goals for the Thrashers.

Tampa Bay 4, Montreal 1: Steven Stamkos had two goals and two assists, while rookie goalie Cedrick Desjardins won in his NHL debut for the Lightning. Desjardins made 27 saves.

San Jose 5, Chicago 3: Joe Thornton broke a tie on a deflection at 7:13 of the third period as his Sharks snapped a two-game losing streak.

Colorado 4, Edmonton 3 (SO): The Avalanche won despite blowing a 3-0 lead after the first period. The Oilers have lost five in a row.

Phoenix 6, Los Angeles 3: Shane Doan scored two goals and Scottie Upshall and Keith Yandle each had three points in Phoenix's victory over Los Angeles.


Around the rinks

Anaheim Ducks: Captain Ryan Getzlaf will be out for at least two games after a deflected puck broke his nose. The Ducks put Getzlaf on injured reserve Thursday, which means he'll miss the Ducks' upcoming home games against Philadelphia and Chicago.
