Shirley Ann Goston, a retired Buffalo teacher's aide, died Tuesday in her Buffalo home after a lengthy illness. She was 61.
Born Shirley Ann Ransom in Buffalo, she was a 1967 graduate of East High School and studied at Medaille College. She joined the Buffalo schools as a teacher's aide in 1979 and served at various schools for more than 26 years, retiring in 2004 after several years of working with special-education students at Seneca Vocational High School.
Mrs. Goston was a longtime member of St. John Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Parish E.; a daughter, Tasha M. Brown; a sister, Dorothy Stevens; an adopted sister, Toni Winfield; her former husband, Thurmon; and two longtime friends, Marie Ziegler and Shirley Green.
Services will be at noon Monday in St. John Baptist Church, 184 Goodell St.
