Carl E. Molin Jr. of Amherst, retired president of Molin Auto Parts, died Monday in Beachwood Continuing Care in Getzville. He was 84.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Lafayette High School and attended the University of Buffalo. During World War II, Mr. Molin served in the Navy aboard a destroyer and a landing ship tank in the South Pacific.
Mr. Molin began his career at Molin Auto Parts, a family-owned auto parts distributor on Grant Street in Buffalo. He retired in 1990.
He was a past president of the New York State Automobile Wholesalers Association, the Association of Aftermarket Distributors and the Country Club of Buffalo.
Mr. Molin also served on the boards of the Automobile Club of Western New York, the Automotive Service Industry Association and the Council on Small Business Enterprises.
He was an active volunteer with the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County for many years, and he was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Snyder.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Virginia Smith; a daughter, Jill Luckett; three sons, Scott, Kim and Trey; and a sister, Janet Brown.
A private service is planned.
