Five Spot / Quick hitters on the light side

1. TWO TIMES ZERO

Andrew Nicholson (above) played the entire 60 minutes for St. Bonaventure in its four-overtime win over Ohio on Saturday. Impressed by the effort, the Bonnies generously offered to double his salary for the rest of the season.

2. COME OUT FIRING

The Orlando Magic completed a big trade Saturday by acquiring controversial guard Gilbert Arenas from the Washington Wizards. The Magic resisted the temptation to say it wanted to add a little firepower to its lineup.

3. FOREVER YOUNG

Bernard Hopkins came up short Saturday in his attempt to become the oldest man ever to win a world boxing championship. It's a good thing he didn't win -- George Foreman was ready to go back into training in an effort to reclaim the record.

4. NOT A TOUGH CHOICE

Maryland has asked football coach Ralph Friedgen to either retire or accept a $2 million buyout from his contract, which expires in a year. If Friedgen does retire instead of taking the money, he already has set an ACC record for best pension plan.

5. SORE LOSERS

Fans of the Greek soccer team Panathinaikos chased players off their home field and pelted them with objects Saturday following a disappointing loss. Members of the Dolphins were happy that no one in Miami heard about the incident before Sunday's game.
