Bills-Dolphins Report Card / By News football writers

>Grading the Bills

RUNNING GAME

D- : Rough day, but at least they stuck with it. Tailbacks had 52 yards on 24 carries. First time in career Jackson rush 15 times and averaged less than 3 yards.

PASSING GAME

B : Fitzpatrick made a couple of bad throws early, but made great TD passes to Johnson and Nelson. Offensive line held up fairly well.

RUN DEFENSE

A : Best game of the year. The NFL's bottom-rated unit held Miami to 65 yards, lowest yield of season.

PASS DEFENSE

B : Henne was a deceptive 33 for 45. Bills kept receivers in front of them, didn't allow anything down field. Front got decent pressure.

SPECIAL TEAMS

B : Moorman didn't have best day, but Dolphins had no return yardage. Spiller's 34-yard punt return set up field goal.

COACHING

A : Told players they were a much better team than the one that lost to Dolphins in opener, and backed it up with a solid game plan.

RUNNING GAME

F : How does a team that doesn't trust its quarterback run 19 times against the league's No. 32 run defense?

PASSING GAME

C- : Henne completed 33 passes and was booed off the field. Coaches are afraid to throw down the field. Offensive line in disarray.

RUN DEFENSE

A : Best part of the team. They've shut down some of the best backs in the league. Take out the 12-yard gain and Spiller had eight carries for 4 yards.

PASS DEFENSE

C : Decent overall, but Fitzpatrick threw a couple of lasers by them for TDs. Didn't get consistent pressure. Wake didn't look like sack leader.

SPECIAL TEAMS

F : Carpenter first kicker in 40 years to miss four field-goal attempts against the Bills. Missing 61-yarder before half couldn't have helped his state of mind.

COACHING

F : Henning abandoned run and made Dolphins seem like a soft team. Brutal clock management cost them a timeout at the end.
