Five Spot / Quick hitters on the light side

1. ISIAH'S VIEW

Isiah Thomas (above), a former Knicks coach, says LeBron James should go to New York if he wants to play on "the biggest stage." And who knows more about the biggest stage than a guy who coaches Florida International?

2. A CLEAN SLATE

The New Jersey Nets' new coach, Avery Johnson, unveiled the team's new slogan: "Erase and replace." That should work out better than last year's motto, "Lose, rinse and repeat."

3. ZEROED IN

Stephen Strasburg lost his second straight game Monday when the Nationals failed to score a run. He gets less support than Darryl Strawberry's ex-wives.

4. BAD MEDICINE

Jennifer Capriati was hospitalized after overdosing on prescription drugs. Her infamous father blamed Capriati, saying her grip was too weak on the pill bottle.

5. UNFRIENDLY RIVALS

Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi will renew their intense rivalry in an exhibition match next February in Madison Square Garden. There's so much bad blood between the two that Jimmy Carter has agreed to be the linesman.
