OLAF FUB SEZ: A thought for the Buffalo Garden Festival from French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, born on this date in 1712, "Plant and your spouse plants with you; weed and you weed alone."
Ode to the Gardens
Bromeliads and lily pads and a Monkey Puzzle Tree that's not,
I work in a house that's made of glass and, oh boy, inside it's hot!
There's ferns with horns and fiddleheads and one they call Maiden Hair,
There's Koi in a pond and a waterfall beyond and Thunbergia fills the air.
See dinosaurs and plants with spores and Birds of Paradise,
Come visit with me and you'll agree that this place is oh, so nice!
It's open all year, there's nothing to fear, even when the outside water hardens.
Why, it's down the street in a place you know as the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens.
