Jazz debut

Mari McNeil, formerly Mari Anderson, has been a star for some time in Buffalo's folk music circles. Now she has made a move into jazz.

McNeil makes her jazz debut at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Unity Church of Buffalo (1243 Delaware Ave.). Accompanying her will be the Michael McNeill Trio (no relation), including Dave Arenius on bass and Russ Algera on drums.

"Michael and I have come up with some lovely arrangements of great jazz standards," McNeil promises.

Special guests jazz vocalist Peggy Farrell and pianist Guy Boleri also will be performing a brief set. Tickets are $20 at the door and refreshments will be served. Proceeds will benefit Gilda's Club of Buffalo. For information, call Gilda's Club, 332-5900, Ext. 207.
