The New York State Cosmetology Association presented Jacqueline Hare of Kenmore its 2010 Onetha Chisolm Lifetime Achievement award. The award is presented annually to members for service in the community and industry. Hare has worked more than 40 years as a hairstylist and educator in the appearance-enhancement industry.

M&T Bank appointed Edward Lisowski a wealth adviser in the M&T Investment Group in the Buffalo region. Lisowski has 23 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is a Canisius College graduate.

The Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, a biomedical research facility in Buffalo, elected Tom McMahon to its board of directors. McMahon is president and CEO of CUBRC Inc. in Cheektowaga.

Resetarits Construction of Buffalo was awarded a contract by Roycroft Campus Corp. to reconstruct the Power House building in East Aurora that was destroyed by fire in 1997. The original purpose of the building was to furnish heat and electricity for the campus. After the rebuild, which is being designed and constructed in accordance with regulations set forth by the New York State Preservation Office, the space will house various programs, classes and events for the campus.

The Child Advocacy Center of Niagara was approved for reaccreditation by the National Children's Alliance. The alliance equips local child-advocacy centers, multidisciplinary teams and child-abuse treatment professionals with the training, support and technical assistance needed to respond appropriately and effectively to allegations of child abuse or neglect. The Child Advocacy Center of Niagara, a service of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, is a countywide resource providing a place for multidisciplinary teams to investigate allegations of child abuse in a child-friendly environment.



Employees of Five Star Bank pledged $100,000 to United Way agencies in the area during its recent 2010 campaign.
