Man to serve 3 years in prison for drug violation

An Olean man faces three years in prison following sentencing Monday in Cattaraugus County Court for trying to sell illegal drugs last year.

Gary Holland, 28, was sentenced by Judge Larry M. Himelein for his guilty plea to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance May 21, 2009, in the City of Olean. Holland also faces three years of supervision once he is paroled.

Holland was one of 11 named in sealed indictments last year as police made a drug sweep.

He was arraigned in October.

In another sentencing, Alan C. Goss, 48, of Delevan, was sentenced to serve from one to three years in prison and fined $2,500 for pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated and driving without a license May 15, 2009, in the Town of Yorkshire.

Charles White, 21, of Delevan, was sentenced to one to three years in prison for his guilty plea to second-degree attempted assault and third-degree burglary March 20 at a house in the Town of Perrysburg.

He was also sentenced to a one-year concurrent term in jail after he pleaded guilty to third-degree assault Dec. 27, 2008 in the City of Olean in an attack on a man that resulted in severe head trauma.

Walter S. Taylor, 37, of Salamanca, was sentenced to five years' probation and fined $2,000 for his guilty plea to DWI, a concurrent three years' probation and $500 fine for driving without a license, both on Nov. 7 in the City of Salamanca.

In other cases, several entered guilty pleas and face sentencing Aug. 23.

Brian Williams, 26, of Hinsdale, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance Aug. 26, 2008, in the Town of Ischua.

Jon M. Visker, 57, of Randolph, pleaded guilty to DWI and failure to keep right May 10, 2009, in the Town of Randolph.

Dolores Redeye, 53, of Salamanca, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance Jan. 17, 2008, in the City of Salamanca.

Christopher E. Gross, 45, of Shinglehouse, Pa., pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, April 18, 2009, in the Village of Portville.

Toby S. Smith, 37, of Allegany, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, Oct. 16, and to fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a rifle, Oct. 16, all in the City of Olean.

Alfred Jones, 69, of Steamburg, pleaded guilty to DWI Feb. 24 in the Town of Red House.

Kevin Kranock, 54, of Cuba, will be sentenced Oct. 4 after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated April 3 in the Town of Portville.

A Sept. 20 sentencing date was scheduled for Erik D. Allen, 28, , who pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted kidnapping Nov. 11 and aggravated criminal contempt Nov. 28, when he violated an order of protection, both in the City of Salamanca.

Duane P. Dearmyer, 27, of Springville, faces sentencing Oct. 4 for his guilty plea to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance Sept. 3, 2008, in the Town of Ashford.
