SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: The Buffalo Urban League Scholarship Award Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the David C. Hohn Lecture Hall at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm and Carleton streets. Free parking is available in the ramp. A reception immediately follows the ceremony for students, their families and guests.


LEE OFFICE HOURS: A staff member of Rep. Chris Lee, R-Clarence, will be on hand from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday in Wheatfield Community Center, 2790 Church Road, North Tonawanda, and 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Wyoming County Government Center, 143 N. Main St., Warsaw. The staffer will be able to help constituents with problems they may be having with federal agencies and to register their views on national issues.


SUDANESE REFERENDUM GATHERING: The Southern Sudanese Americans in New York will hold a comprehensive peace agreement and referendum gathering at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Holiday Inn Downtown, 620 Delaware Ave., to mark the end of more than a decade of civil war in Sudan and the upcoming referendum Jan. 9 in southern Sudan.


STRAWBERRY SOCIAL: Trinity United Methodist Church will host its annual strawberry social from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 75 Main St., Attica. The menu also will include hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage with onions and peppers, grilled chicken breast sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, beverages and, of course, strawberry shortcake and strawberry sundaes. Take out or dine in.
