Carole L. Facklam, a guidance counselor at Hamburg Junior High School for 25 years, died Saturday in her Hamburg home. She was 74.
Born Carole Smith in Welland, Ont., she moved to Buffalo as a teen and graduated from Lafayette High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from Buffalo State College and a master's degree from the University at Buffalo.
After retiring from the Hamburg schools, she collected antiques, traveled in the family's RV and volunteered at Gilda's Club. She was a co-founder of the Hamburg Retirees Group and was a member of the Hamburg Antiques Study group. She also was a member of Hamburg Wesleyan Church and took part in many church activities.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Arnold Jr., former principal of the Potter Road Occupational Center; two sons, Arnold III and Christopher; and a daughter, Suzanne Gill.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. June 30 in Hamburg Wesleyan Church, 4999 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg.
