This year's Molson Canal Concert Series -- held at Ulrich City Center on the Canal in the heart of downtown Lockport -- kicks off next Friday evening with a headlining set from world music/jam-band favorites Rusted Root.
The band is still in the midst of extensive touring in support of its latest album, the critically lauded "Stereo Rodeo," and leader/founder Michael Glabicki has rounded up both Rusted Root touring veterans and "newbies" for this current jaunt. In addition to Glabicki's guitar and voice, vocalist/percussionist Liz Berlin, bassist/vocalist Patrick Norman, drummer Jason Miller, guitarist Preach Freedom and guitarist Dirk Miller will be lending their talents to the 2010 Canal Series' commencement ceremonies.
Opening the bill will be the Ragbirds, a new band featuring former Last Conservative singer/guitarist TJ Zindle. The Ragbirds will take the stage at 5:30 p.m. Admission and parking for all events in the Molson Canal Concert Series are free. For more information, visit www.canalconcerts.com.
