Left-hander Pat Misch (5-2, 3.58 ERA) will take the mound for Buffalo tonight at Coca-Cola Field when the Bisons open a four-game series against the Indianapolis Indians (7:05 p.m., Radio 1520 AM). Right-hander Hayden Penn (1-2, 5.40) is scheduled to get the start for Indy.
It will be the only regular-season appearance of the Indians and second baseman Jim Negrych, former St. Francis High and University of Pittsburgh standout. Negrych is batting .385 in his five games with Indianapolis so far.
Indy comes in with a 35-31 record, the same as the Bisons. Buffalo stands third in the International League's North Division while Indy is third in the West Division.
The Bisons won the last two games of their home series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs while the Indians have lost their last four, on the road against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.
Penn was the starting pitcher in Indianapolis' last victory, a 10-3 home triumph over the Pawtucket Red Sox. He allowed three hits and no earned runs in six innings, walking none and striking out five.
Third baseman Pedro Alvarez, who has hit 13 home runs and driven in 53 runs in 66 games with the Indians, was called up to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
