No complacency for Hamburg
A 14-6 win over West Seneca East on Wednesday and a 2-0 record sounds like a solid start to the boys lacrosse season for Hamburg.
But the three-time defending Section VI Class B champion Bulldogs still have plenty of work ahead of them.
For coach Jerry Severino, the score wasn't the most important aspect of the game. He wants to see his team chemistry improve and mix in some younger players with a talented veteran roster.
"We had ups and downs," Severino said. "In the first quarter we scored six and gave up two and in the second quarter we relaxed and they caught up a little bit. We were hot and cold. We have spurts of brilliance and then lapses where we take too many penalties or make too many unforced errors. [The coaching staff] makes the final critique so that no one is comfortable. We try to limit complacency."
Senior Ryan Feuerstein scored four goals with two assists for Hamburg while Adam Dings added two goals and two assists.
