SUMMER BREAK -- Is your middle-schooler an aspiring video producer or computer genius? Then get ready to pack the kid off to a career summer camp sponsored by Erie 1 BOCES. Registrations are now being taken for half-day and full-day camp sessions at the Harkness Center in Cheektowaga from July 26 to 30 and the Potter Center in West Seneca from Aug. 2 to 6.

Camps include Animations (Harkness only), Behind the Scenes, Blank Canvas -- Your Acrylic Painting Masterpiece, Career Cruising (mornings only), Culinary Kids, Hover Craft, Team Challenge and Video Production. For those who don't want to do video stuff and computers on summer vacation, there's Nails and Hairstyling, Make Fitness Count and Culinary Kids.

NATURE'S ART -- The poster competition for this summer's sixth annual Black Rock-Riverside Tour of Gardens offers more than the satisfaction of seeing your winning floral design on T-shirts, promotional materials and the tour's map guide. There's also a $200 cash prize.
