Public health activities set for 5 days next week
OLEAN -- Cattaraugus County Public Health Director Dr. Kevin D. Watkins announced the following public health activities at the department's Olean office to mark National Public Health Week, which starts Monday:
Monday -- 9 a.m. to noon; immunizations for those younger than 19 are free; swine flu vaccine is available at no cost.
Tuesday -- 9 a.m. to noon; for Tobacco Education Day, oxygen levels will be checked and carbon monoxide levels measured.
Wednesday -- 9 a.m. to noon; HIV testing and family planning information will be available.
Thursday -- 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; a health fair will be held featuring testing for blood pressure, osteoporosis, glucose, lead, body mass index and taste; screenings for cancer; breast exams; and education about poisons.
Friday -- 10 a.m. to noon; a child safety seat check will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church; bring the child and the seat. Also, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Operation Safe Child, sponsored by the Sheriff's Office, will be held at the church, and photo identification cards will be issued to parents or legal guardians.
