The region is about to shake its chill -- at least for a few days.
Sun and near-record highs are forecast for Friday and Saturday.
The National Weather Service reports that a "strong ridge" of high pressure will set up over the eastern third of the country Thursday, bringing warm weather to Western New York.
The region could hit the 70s on Friday.
Some inland areas could see highs of 77 or 78 by Saturday. Areas closer to Lake Erie are forecast to hit the high 60s or low 70s.
